Jongguk Kim, CEO of JCube Data, Donates 150 Million KRW to the “Library and Information Science Development Fund”

On Tuesday, August 20, at the 600th Anniversary Hall of the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, Jongguk Kim, CEO of JCube Data (Library and Information Science, Class of 1990), donated 150 million KRW to the “Library and Information Science Development Fund.”
The donation ceremony was attended by President Ji-beom Yoo, Juyoung Soo, Executive Director of the Foundation, Jaehyun Kim, Vice President of the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, Dehwe Ahn, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Donghwan Lee, Director of the Foundation, and several professors from the Department of Library and Information Science, including Youngsik Kim, the department chair, and Professors Youngman Go, Wonsik Shim, and Sanghee Oh.
Jongguk Kim enrolled in the Library and Information Science program at Sungkyunkwan University in 1990. After graduation, he worked at LG Information & Communications, LG Electronics, and LG CNS before founding JCube Data, a network solutions provider, in 2005.
Since 2015, Kim has shown consistent support for his alma mater, establishing the JCube Data Scholarship Fund and donating 104 million KRW. This recent donation further supports the Department of Library and Information Science, bringing his total contributions to approximately 258 million KRW.
In his commemorative speech, Kim stated, “After graduating from university and starting to earn money, I aimed to give back to my alma mater in any way I could. Leading a company with many employees has made me increasingly aware of the importance of talent, and I plan to continue supporting the university that nurtures such talent.”
President Ji-beom Yoo praised Kim’s generosity, saying, “In a time when the significance of library and information science is growing, particularly with the handling of big data in addition to traditional books, I highly commend Mr. Kim's valuable contribution. We will do our utmost to use this donation to advance the department.”
