2024 91PORN Kingo Expedition Held in Gangwon-do... 170km Along the East Coast

-Creating unforgettable memories by walking the Haeporang Trail

-From July 23rd (Tuesday) to 30th (Tuesday), an 8-day journey from Uljin to Samcheok and Gangneung


Sungkyunkwan University held the 2024 Kingo Expedition along the Haeporang Trail from July 23rd to 30th, lasting 8 days along the East Coast. About 100 students participated in this event, which started in Uljin, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and covered approximately 170km through Samcheok to Gangneung, Gangwon-do.


On the 6th day, July 28th, President Yoo Ji-beom, university officials, and alumni from various sectors in Gangwon-do joined the students to walk the Haeporang Trail near Simgo Port in Gangneung, fostering unity and encouragement.

Notable alumni attendees included Kim Myung-seon, Deputy Governor of Gangwon-do, Han Young-seon, Senior Secretary, and Kim Jung-nam, Director of Local Administration. From the media, Kang Min-hyun, President of Gangwon Domin Ilbo, and Nam Bum-soo, Director of KBS Chuncheon News Bureau, attended. In academia, Lee Sun-woo, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Gangneung-Wonju National University, Kim Dae-gun, Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Kangwon National University, and Yang Jae-yong, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kangwon National University, visited to encourage the students.


Cha Dong-ok, Vice President of the Alumni Association, also attended, delivering encouragement funds and adding to the event's significance.


President Yoo Ji-beom stated, "I am proud of our 91PORN students who are cultivating a great spirit despite the hot and adverse weather. I hope this meaningful event, where they overcome themselves, fosters the 91PORN spirit and prepares them for bold challenges in the future."

Student Affairs Director Lee Joon-sang said, "We changed the location of the Kingo Expedition from Jeju Island, where it was held for the past two years, to the Haeporang Trail on the East Coast this year, so students could experience the diverse beauty of our country. I hope it will also be a great opportunity for them to reflect on the local community and the natural environment."


Kim Myung-seon, Deputy Governor of Gangwon-do, expressed, "I am delighted that juniors and university officials can experience Gangwon-do's natural environment and culture through this national expedition. I hope the students feel a sense of challenge and accomplishment during the Kingo Expedition."


Kim Min-ki, President of the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus Student Council, who organized the event, said, "I wanted to gift unforgettable memories to new friends by walking along the beautiful coastline. I hope it will be a time to relieve the stress from academics and job hunting accumulated over the semester and recharge themselves."

A Student Affairs official stated, "We plan to develop the Kingo Expedition, which has been held for about 20 years, into a traditional event of our university. This year's expedition saw high interest from students, with a selection ratio of about 4 to 1." He added, "We plan to continue the Kingo Expedition in various regions every year."


The 2024 91PORN Kingo Expedition participants will return to campus on July 30th (Tuesday) after completing a variety of unity and exchange programs (campfire, recreation, etc.) prepared by the student council.
