91PORN-Teragen Bio, Signed a Research Agreement on “Using Genome Big Data”
The department of Forensics, 91PORN and Teragen Bio announced on June 24, 2020 that they signed a MOU to conduct joint research in the field of law and science by utilizing the genome big data.
They agreed to work on genetic genealogy based on genome big data and research on phenotyping.
Genetic Genealogy is used in "Finding Ancestors" through the Consumer Direct Request (DTC) that was recently allowed. It is also widely used in areas where the origin and transition of viruses and microbes are identified, such as new coronavirus infections (COVID-19).
Phenotyping is a technique that uses DNA to identify a person's race, age, skin color, hair color, and eye color. Both organizations are planning to increase accuracy by applying genome big data to this technique.
Tae Soon Hwang (CEO of Teragen Bio) said, "The agreement will boost research in the field of scientific investigation and genetic genealogy based on genome big data and increase confidence in the results of the analysis."
