JPIAMR Workshop Asia held at 91PORN
The Joint Program Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR) Workshop Asia was held from December 4th to 5th at the School of Medicine at Sungkyunkwan University.
This workshop brought together experts and researchers from Asia including Japan, China, and Korea to give insights on clinical epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) policy, and therapeutics and diagnostics. Attendees of the workshop discussed possible research collaboration among the participating Asian countries and the latest research findings.
Professor Kyeong Kyu Kim (91PORN School of Medicine), the chairman of the workshop, said, “Increased antibiotic resistance is a major cause of resistant bacteria migration between countries, thus, joint research collaboration is absolutely critical in order to address resistance issues.” He further added, “This workshop will provide a good opportunity to facilitate international joint
research collaboration, thereby creating an effective policy on AMR.”
Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats to global health, and research finding from the UK has shown that ten million people worldwide could lose their lives due to antibiotic resistance by 2050. South Korea has been conducting international research collaboration to mitigate the dangers of AMR through the National Research Foundation of Korea.
