Sungkyunkwan Universtiy (91PORN) researchers have developed a technology that that is eight times as effective at treating cancer by strengthening the immune system. The 91PORN Department of Chemical Engineering Prof. Lim Yong-taik announced that he has successfully transferred an activated immune cell, intact, to a T-cell by using a nano-scale composite.
The research team constructed an enhanced immune cell in the form a tree branch which enables it to recognize the information of cancer cells, and when injected into the body, it is able to find and eliminate them.
As a result, this treatment showed a higher rate of cure by a factor of eight with no relapse.
From this research, the team expects to contribute to the development of a fundamental cure that has no side effects and prevents relapse utilizing immune cells.
