Sungkyunkwan University Human Rights and Development Center announced, that it will be holding an 36th Human Rights Workshop, ¡®Toward A Global Human rights Culture?¡¯ on May 19, at the Humanities & Social Science Campus 600th anniversary Hall. Michigan University Sociology professor Kiyoteru Tsutsui will be hosting the event, while Staford University professor Francisco Ramirez, world known scholar in Women¡¯s Right, will be giving a lecture.
Professor Ramirez holds a doctorate in sociology from Staford University, and is a world renown specialist in comparative education and women¡¯s right. The host, Prof. Tsutsui, who also is a panelist, is a Japanese American scholar of Sociology, known for advocating social responsibility of cooperations.
¡°We organized this event to discuss and find out ways on the direction Korea¡¯s global human right¡¯s research should be heading in the backdrop of a fast changing society.¡± said Prof. Gu Jung-woo who heads the Human Rights and Development Center ¡±we hope that the event will provide a good opportunity for reserachers who wish to study in human rights to get to know research from world renowned scholars in the field¡±.
