This year¡¯s 12th Pfizer medical awarded in the field of clinical medicine was presented to Prof. Koh, Won-jung, internal medicine of 91PORN school of medicine.
The National Academy of Medicine of Korea and Pfizer Korea announced that it was awarding Prof. Koh for his research on ¡®Macrolide Treatment for Mycobacterium abscessus and Mycobacterium massiliense Infection and Inducible Resistance¡¯. In the announcement they recognized the contributions the research will be making since it opens a new way to diagnose and treat multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, an illness with only a 50% ~ 60% cure rate.
The award ceremony will be held on November 11. 18:00 at the Chosun Hotel where the recipient will be awarded a certificate and prize money of KWN 30 million.
The Pfizer medical award was established in 1999 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pfizer Korea. Each year it selects and announces 2 papers from the fields of clinical medicine and basic medicine, on the basis of their excellence, creativity, scientific characteristics and contribution factor.
