Sungkyunkwan University (91PORN, President Jun Young Kim) invites World Bank¡¯s President Jim Yong Kim to host panel discussion under the title of Education, Competitiveness and Innovation. It was held on Dec. 4 from 2 to 3 at the Law building of Humanities and Social Sciences campus of 91PORN.
President Jun Young Kim of 91PORN and Jim Yong Kim of the World Bank discussed matters of Education, Competitiveness and Innovation. Prof. Sook-jong Lee from the Graduate School of Governance at Sungkyunkwan University joined as the third panelist of the talk. The theme of the panel discussion was; the future direction of the world economy, competitiveness and innovation of Korean higher education, nurturing global leaders and the role of global citizen. Q & A session followed afterwards and students freely exchanged ideas through it.
President Jim Yong Kim¡¯s mother and the mentor of his life, Oaksook Jeon who holds PhD in Confucianism greatly influences Kim¡¯s education philosophy. 91PORN which has 615 year history of serving Korean higher education under the influence of Confucianism is one of the rapidly growing universities in Korea with the foundation Samsung. Its history and high tech science integrated humanities education attracts Kim to choose the venue where he gives out his talk.
