President Yoo Ji-Beom Awarded Honorary Doctorate in Education from National Chengchi University in Taiwan
On November 12, President Yoo Ji-Beom was awarded an honorary Doctor of Education degree by National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taiwan (President Li Tsai-Yen).
This honorary doctorate was presented to President Yoo in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the exchange between our university and NCCU, commemorating the long-standing friendship between the two institutions. The ceremony was attended by President Yoo, Vice President Kim Jae-hyun of the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, Director Kim Kyung-ho of the East Asian Studies Institute, Ambassador Lee Eun-ho of the Republic of Korea Mission in Taipei, and faculty members of NCCU, among others.
Since the signing of the first academic exchange agreement in 1964, our university and NCCU have maintained active exchanges for the past 60 years, including reciprocal visits and honorary doctorate awards. The two universities have particularly close ties in the fields of Chinese and Korean language studies, with exchange professor programs in place.
President Li Tsai-Yen of NCCU stated that the honorary doctorate was awarded to President Yoo in recognition of his achievements in nanotechnology research and education, as well as his role in opening a new chapter of educational and cultural exchange between the two universities.
President Yoo remarked, "This honorary degree symbolizes the long friendship and cooperation between Sungkyunkwan University and NCCU. I look forward to both institutions expanding their areas of cooperation and addressing various issues together, paving the way for a new chapter for future generations."
Meanwhile, based on the academic exchange agreement signed with NCCU in 1964, our university has continued active exchange activities, sending 112 students through exchange programs and hosting 121 Taiwanese students. Additionally, a dual-degree program is being operated in collaboration with the College of Liberal Arts and the East Asian Studies Institute.
