Opening of the Graduate Innovation Center (CIGS) to Support Our University's Aspiration as a World-Class Research University

As part of the 4th Phase BK21 Graduate Innovation Project, our university has inaugurated the Graduate Innovation Center (CIGS: Center for Innovation in Graduate Studies) on the 2nd floor of the 600th Anniversary Hall.

The Graduate Innovation Center was established to address the growing consensus on the need for a dedicated organization focused on developing and managing graduate policy research and performance assessment (Institutional Research) in support of a graduate-centered university.

The opening ceremony on the 23rd, which included the appointment of the center director, was attended by President Yoo Ji-Beom, Graduate Dean Han Sang-man, inaugural Director Gu Ja-chun, the graduate team lead, and other graduate school representatives.

Professor Gu Ja-chun from the Mechanical Engineering Department, who has extensive expertise across education, research, and administration, including experience as an international affairs director, has been appointed as the center's first director. The Graduate Innovation Center, in close collaboration with the graduate school team, will support the planning and implementation of graduate innovation policies, foster international collaborative research for graduate students, and focus on performance management and feedback for graduate innovation programs to drive the development of our graduate school.

Our university is pursuing institutional reform to establish itself as a world-class research university by enhancing its structure, improving graduate education, upgrading the research environment, and strengthening international competitiveness. Since being selected for the 4th Phase BK21 Graduate Innovation Project in 2020, the university has made significant efforts to advance these goals.

President Yoo Ji-Beom congratulated the opening of the Graduate Innovation Center, expressing his hopes that it will help lead our university toward its goal of becoming a globally recognized research university.
