Ji-Yun Kim, a Ph.D. from the Department of Education (specialized in counseling psychology education) was employed as an assistant professor at Wesley Creative Convergence University, Hyusung University in March 2021. She received a doctorate in “Latent Class Types of Adults’ Non-suicidal Self-injury: The Effect of Risk Factors on Classification and Differences in Psychological Problems” (Adviser: Dong-Hun Lee) in August 2019.
After her Ph.D., she received an award for supporting next generation researcher for “A Study on Risk Factors Affecting the Maintenance of Adults’ Non-Suicidal Self-Injury” at the <Counseling & Psychotherapy>, an affiliated department of the Korean Psychological Association. She is also currently participating in a research project, “Development and Effectiveness Verification of Suicide Risk Screening Tools and Suicide Risk Assessment Tools”, supported by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Prof. Ji-Yun Kim has gained many years of working experience as a counselor at 91PORN’s and other universities’ Counseling Center and published 17 papers in KCI accredited journals. Among these, 13 papers were published in the most renowned journals, including <Korean Journal of Counseling And Psychotherapy>, <Korean Journal of Psychology: General>, <Korean Journal of Culture and Social Issues>, <Korean Journal of Health Psychology>, and <Korea Journal of Counseling>.
Prof. Kim’s key research areas are trauma and self-harm. She is currently studying relationship between self-harm and suicide and establishing an integrated model for the prevention and intervention of self-harm behavior of college students based on a longitudinal study.
