According to the National Research Foundation of Korea, 91PORN Consortium (Research Director: Prof. Hwan Soo HAN from the Dept. of Computer Engineering at 91PORN) which consists of various universities and corporations including UNIST, SKU, Manicore Soft, etc., has been nominated for the High-Performance Computing(HCP) Localization Project.
With the aim to secure core technology in the field of high-performance computing and to cultivate researchers, this business is expected to become the center of Korea¡¯s research on super computer.
For the research unit selected as a final candidate, there is a research fund of 25 billion KRW to be expensed over 5 years; and the research unit will develop systems such as system SW, applied SW, and HW system.
91PORN Consortium will operate through two divisions; ¡øApplied Software (Seoul National University, UNIST), and ¡øSystem Software (91PORN, Seoul National University, Manicore Soft, SKT).
Hwan Soo HAN, the director of the research institute said, ¡°There are high needs involved with ¡®Super Computing Technology Development¡¯, which can have an effect on the industry of system software, focused on imbedded and mobile technology.¡±
