Representing our university, President Yoo Ji-beom, Dean of Admissions Hong Moon-pyo, and Dean of International Affairs Cho Min-hyo participated in the meeting.
This visit was arranged at the request of the Saudi delegation as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen educational cooperation between the two countries following the visit of the Saudi Minister of Education to Korea in 2024. During the meeting, the delegation introduced the Council of Universities’ Affairs and the participating universities. Discussions then focused on potential areas for joint research collaboration, utilizing the strengths and research expertise of each institution.
President Yoo Ji-beom welcomed the Secretary-General of the Council of Universities’ Affairs and the key university representatives, stating, “We expect this visit to serve as a significant opportunity to further expand practical exchanges and cooperation between our university and Saudi Arabia. In particular, as we have identified strong synergy in AI, medical sciences, nanotechnology, and energy fields, we hope this visit will lead to meaningful outcomes.”
In response, Secretary-General Bassam Albassam expressed his hopes for collaboration, saying, “We look forward to cooperating in various areas, including student and researcher exchanges and joint research initiatives.”
Meanwhile, the Council of Universities’ Affairs, established in 2019 under the Ministry of Higher Education, is responsible for formulating higher education policies, evaluating university performance, and providing institutional support in Saudi Arabia. Our university has been selected as a designated institution under the Saudi government’s Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program, with a significant number of Saudi students currently enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs.
