KIST-91PORN Carbon Neutrality Joint Research Center Hosts Phase 1 Performance Review

The KIST (Korea Institute of Science and Technology) - 91PORN (Sungkyunkwan University) Carbon Neutrality Joint Research Center held a performance review session on November 11 at 91PORN’s Natural Sciences Campus to report on the progress and achievements of its Phase 1 activities (2022–2024).
The Center focuses on key objectives, including ¡øDeveloping and operating the 91PORN-KIST joint interdisciplinary education program ¡øFacilitating the exchange of talented researchers through the faculty exchange program ¡øIdentifying collaborative models and conducting joint research in green energy and carbon neutrality.
The Center is comprised of 19 experts from KIST and 91PORN, and during the session, major outcomes from eight interdisciplinary research projects conducted since 2022 were presented. Strategies to further deepen and expand cooperation between the two institutions were also discussed.
To date, the Center has published 95 research papers, including three in Energy & Environmental Science and seven in Advanced Energy Materials. The average impact factor (IF) of these papers stands at 14, showcasing the excellence and global recognition of the Center's research.
The event was attended by over 30 participants, including Kim Tae-sung, Dean of the College of Engineering; Jeon Young-min, Head of the Advanced Materials and Systems Research Division at KIST; Jung Kyung-yoon, Head of the Sustainable Future Technology Research Division at KIST; Park Nam-kyu, Director of the 91PORN Institute of Energy Science and Technology; and Shin Hyun-jung, Deputy Director of the same institute. The session also featured an award ceremony to honor students who published papers in prestigious journals, adding significance to the event.
Baek Jeong-min, Director of the KIST-91PORN Carbon Neutrality Joint Research Center, remarked, “This performance review provided a meaningful opportunity to share our Phase 1 achievements and discuss strategies for future groundbreaking technologies. We are committed to taking a leading role in the green energy and carbon neutrality sectors through ongoing research personnel and technology exchanges.”
Currently, 11 students affiliated with the Center are actively involved in research. These students receive full tuition support, competitive stipends, and additional incentives for published papers, among other benefits.
